SENIOR DIRECTOR / GENERAL PARTNER

Josh is the Senior Director at Veteran Ventures Capital and a member of the investment committee. Josh is a dynamic executive with proven results leading operations, finance, corporate services, budgeting, and accounting organizations in both the public and private sector.  Before joining Veteran Ventures, Josh had a successful rise and exit within Stewart & Stevenson, a privately-held manufacturer, and distributor of specialized equipment serving the oil & gas, marine, transportation, power generation, and material handling industries.  From 2012 to 2020, Josh served in numerous executive roles with increasing progression and responsibilities.  In 2015, Josh was appointed Stewart & Stevenson’s Chief Operating Officer leading all aspects of business operations, corporate shared services, financial planning and analysis, supply chain, and training.  He worked closely with the Chairman and CEO on the development of Corporate Strategy and M&A activities, taking responsibility for its execution.  These strategic efforts culminated with the successful sale of Stewart & Stevenson to Kirby Corporation (NYSE: KEX) for $752 million.

Prior to joining the private sector, Josh honorably served as an Air Force financial management officer for 10 years on active duty.  He still serves today as a Reserve Officer in the Air Force Budget Office at the Pentagon.  While active duty, Josh managed a $32 billion-dollar Operations & Maintenance appropriated fund portfolio at Headquarters Air Force (Pentagon).  He also served in a variety of wing and command tours culminating in his final assignment leading all aspects of budget and financial operations across the Air Force Command in Europe and Africa, overseeing a $2B budget.

Josh earned his Ph.D. in Policy Analysis with General Distinction from the RAND Graduate School with emphasis on the use of analysis and quantitative methods to improve executive management's data-backed decision-making.  He is a 2001 Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with dual majors in Economics and Operations Research.  He has graduated from numerous military colleges, schools and training programs, most notably: the Air Command and Staff College, the Defense Comptroller School and the Squadron Officer School.  Josh is a Certified Defense Financial Manager and Level 3 Certified in the Office of Secretary of Defense Comptroller Certification Program.  He is also the author of several research publications and articles.
